Workflow

When you send us your document, usually by email, our first step is to analyse the contents and scope of work. We will then discuss your exact requirements with you and explain the most suitable options, before putting together a competitive quote. Once the quote is approved, you will be assigned a dedicated project manager as your main point of contact. They will be responsible for the project from start to finish, including selecting the best resources and running rigorous final quality checks to ensure your documents meet your specifications. Next time you can contact your dedicated project manager directly and arrange a regular workflow that is tailored to your business needs.

Highly qualified in-house team

Our project managers and in-house translators all have degree-level language qualifications and real-world translation experience. All our external translators are expected to meet the same high standards and are tested before being approved on our database. This means that, from start to finish, your documents are in the hands of experienced professionals, who make the quality and accuracy of the final text a priority.

We are expert users of SDL Trados Studio, MemoQ and Memsource translation software, and working with some of the largest translation companies in the world means we have wider expertise in software and client-specific portals. So, we’re confident we can use what you use.

Cross project consistency

If you are a regular client, then your dedicated project manager will build up a team of linguists who are familiar with your business and terminology, which means they can implement your preferences and feedback in the future.

We also use computer-assisted translation (CAT) software to build up a database of your previous translations (known as a translation memory) to ensure repeated phrases and terminology are translated consistently, and also reduce the time and cost of your projects. Translation memories can also be constructed from electronic copies of existing translations if you have them.

In addition, some clients send glossaries or other reference material, or opt for a specialist terminology management service.

Translator recruitment and assessment

Surrey Translation Bureau is very proud to have a strong core of experienced regular translators working in our main language combinations, as well as plenty of talented suppliers covering some of the rarest world languages. Our resource management team regularly receives new applications and actively recruits translators from universities, industry events and conferences.

All translators must have academic qualifications and proven experience. We also check references and organise a test translation, which is assessed by experienced and trusted translators in the same language combination.

The overall quality of our translator register is maintained by way of regular feedback from our in-house team, plus regular supplier reviews as part of our ISO quality system.
